Jamie Poston Hughes

BIO
Attorney Jamie Poston Hughes practices criminal defense law throughout Knoxville and the surrounding Eastern Tennessee region. Born in Ohio and raised in Knoxville, Ms. Hughes earned her B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 2004 and her J.D. from the University of Tennessee, graduating with honors from both schools. While in law school, Ms. Hughes interned at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee and the Federal Magistrate Judges for the Eastern District of Tennessee. She also participated in the Advocacy and Mediation Clinics, and won an award for best trial team in the annual Trial Team competition. After earning her J.D., Ms. Hughes worked in the Knox County Public Defender’s office, which gave her the skills and experience necessary to handle all types of criminal cases, both felony and misdemeanor. Ms. Hughes then worked in Anderson County as an Assistant State Attorney, prosecuting a variety of misdemeanor, felony and juvenile crimes. The time spent as a prosecutor gave Ms. Hughes the skills and insight into how law enforcement operates, investigates and negotiates. After her time at the Anderson County District Attorney’s Office, she worked with her father Bruce Poston, who was voted one of Knoxville’s Top Trial Attorneys. Her time spent working with her father gave her the trial experience necessary to provide her clients with the best possible defense while displaying professionalism and respect for her clients.
